SHEHATA is at the forefront of the state courts litigation and international commercial arbitration with a special recognition of Mr. Shehata who has successfully led teams in major arbitrations in Egypt during the past few years and has also succeeded, before the state courts, in upholding the arbitral awards rendered in favor of its clients. He sits regularly as chairman and co-arbitrator in many international arbitration proceedings both before local and international institutions.

Mr. SHEHATA has successfully led arbitration teams and handled large, complex and high-profile cases before the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Swiss Chambers of Commerce, the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA) and the Singapore International Arbitration centre (SIAC), as well as Ad Hoc arbitrations. He has, inter alia, represented:

• A leading mobile telecommunication company in an interconnection price dispute exceeding EGP 10.2 billion, (CRCICA).
• A major worldwide construction company in a construction dispute exceeding USD 200 million, (CRCICA).
• A major worldwide real estate investment and development company in a land purchase dispute exceeding USD 100 million, (CRCICA).
• A leading medical laboratories services company in Egypt, in an SPA dispute exceeding USD 100 million, (CRCICA).
• A leading company for financial investments in a Share Purchase dispute amounting to USD 50 million, (CRCICA)
• A global chemicals company in a shareholders’ agreement dispute exceeding USD 25 million (ICC)
• A primary international entertainment and tourism company in a usufruct dispute amounting to USD 12 million, (CRCICA).
• A leading international insurance company in an SPA dispute exceeding USD 8 million, (CRCICA).
• A state-owned maritime services company in a Shipping dispute amounting to USD 4 million, London Maritime Arbitration Association (LMAA).

• A major international hospitality corporation in a Hotel Management dispute amounting to USD 1 million, in London Court for International Arbitration (LCIA).

SHEHATA is currently exercising in most of its areas of expertise, inter alia, several international commercial institutional arbitrations for important actors in hotels, telecommunications and medical equipment sectors, ad hoc arbitration, requests for annulment of arbitral awards before the state courts, representing a major investor in a claim before the Conseil d’Etat with respect to a major port infrastructure, defending corporate management on capital market claims, drafting and reviewing contracts in various files, establishing companies and representative offices in Egypt, etc.
